The 50th anniversary of AMA Superbike Racing opened at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta this weekend, and the Georgia hills held up their end of the bargain. Cameron Beaubier arrived on a new Ducati Panigale V4 R chasing a record-tying seventh championship. Scott Russell — five DAYTONA 200 wins, one World Superbike title, the most iconic local name in American road racing — served as Grand Marshal. The King of the Baggers brought the Harley-Davidson vs. Indian war back to Braselton. And MotoAmerica broadcast live to the nation on VICE TV for the first time. Issue No. 8 is the full debrief: race coverage, what we saw in the paddock, and everything on deck for the next 30 days.
Once a year, riders put on their best clothes and ride for something bigger than the road. The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride — Sunday, May 17 in Atlanta — is the 15th edition of what has become the largest motorcycle charity event in the world. Classic bikes, vintage iron, modern retros. Tweed, leather, tailored jackets. All of it in the service of raising money for prostate cancer research and men's mental health through Movember.
The numbers speak for themselves. The 2025 event drew 127,000 riders across 108 countries and raised $7.6 million for Movember in a single day. The cumulative total across 15 years now stands at over $60 million directed toward prostate cancer tests, treatments, and men's mental health programs worldwide. Atlanta's chapter is one of the fastest-growing in the Southeast. The visibility of a hundred motorcycles rolling through the city in their finest is something a gala or a sponsored run can't manufacture. It's a ride that earns attention and turns it toward something that matters.
For 2026, Triumph — the event's official motorcycle partner since 2014 — is offering a one-off custom Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer DGR Edition as the headline prize. Hand-woven Harris Tweed seat from the Outer Hebrides, 15th anniversary graphics, Öhlins suspension, Brembo Stylema calipers. Any registered rider who completes the four DGR profile badges before the campaign closes is automatically entered. No top-fundraiser requirement — just get involved.

What To Ride
Classic, Vintage, Retro
Classic and vintage-styled motorcycles are the standard. Modern retros, café racers, and scramblers all fit the spirit. Any bike works — the dress code matters more than the displacement. Show up on something you're proud of.
What To Wear
Your Best. No Exceptions.
Tweed, suits, tailored leather, flat caps, heritage gear. The whole point is to look the part. Dress like it counts — because it does. The dapper standard is the reason this event earns the attention it does.
The Cause
$60M+ Raised · 15 Years
All funds go to Movember — prostate cancer research and men's mental health programs. Men die on average six years earlier than women, largely for preventable reasons. This is one of the best things motorcyclists have given back to the world.
Register now at distinguishedgentlemansride.com. Set up your fundraising page, share it with your community, and get on the calendar. May 17 is 27 days out. The Atlanta chapter is growing — Red Line will have coverage on the ground.

✦ Road Worth Riding — The Cherohala Skyway
"43 Miles Across The Rooftop Of The Southern Appalachians."
You know the Dragon at Deals Gap. You know GA-348. You probably know the Suches Loop. But the Cherohala Skyway is the road that riders who've done everything else talk about in a different register — quieter, more deliberate, like they're describing something that changed them a little. If you haven't ridden it, fix that this spring.
The Cherohala Skyway runs 43 miles between Tellico Plains, Tennessee and Robbinsville, North Carolina, crossing the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests — the name is a compound of both. It was completed in 1996 after 34 years and $100 million in construction. North Carolina's most expensive highway when it was built. You can feel where the money went the moment you clear the treeline and the road opens up across the ridgeline.
What makes it different from the Dragon is the character of the riding. The Tail of the Dragon is 318 curves in 11 miles — technical, tight, famous, and increasingly crowded. The Cherohala is long sweeping corners across mountaintops that peak at over 5,400 feet, with 15 miles of the route above 5,000 feet. It's been named one of the Discovery Channel's Top 10 Motorcycle Rides in North America. Zero commercial traffic. Near-perfect pavement. Fifteen scenic overlooks. Wildlife — deer, wild boar, bear. The kind of road where you find yourself slowing down on purpose.
Logistics for Atlanta riders: Robbinsville, NC is approximately 3.5 hours from Atlanta via US-76 west through Clayton and Murphy. Tellico Plains, TN is roughly 3 hours via I-75 north to Sweetwater, then southwest. The full one-way crossing takes about 2 hours at a measured pace. There are no fuel stops on the 43-mile Skyway itself — fill up in Tellico Plains (TN side) or Robbinsville (NC side) before you start. No cell service for most of the route.
The optimal overnight loop from Atlanta: Day 1 — drive US-76 west through Clayton and Murphy into Robbinsville, NC. Dinner and overnight in Robbinsville. Day 2 — ride the Skyway east to west (NC to TN), arriving in Tellico Plains for a late lunch at the Tellicafé on the river. Reverse or take US-411 south back to I-75. Add Deals Gap on the Robbinsville end and you've done two of the best roads in America in one weekend. Late April and May are the sweet spot — wildflowers are in bloom at the lower elevations, the road is clear of winter debris, and the high-elevation temperatures are still cool enough to make a full leather day comfortable.
The Numbers
43 Miles · 5,400 Ft Elevation
NC-143 / TN-165. Tellico Plains, TN to Robbinsville, NC. Approximately 2 hours one-way at touring pace. 15+ miles above 5,000 feet. 15 scenic overlooks. 17 hiking trailheads. Zero fuel stops on route.
Know Before You Go
Fuel Up. No Signal. No Services.
Fill up at either terminus before you start — there is nothing on the 43 miles between. No cell coverage for most of the route. Some grades hit 9%. The Skyway has its own patrol on both the TN and NC sides. Sweeping corners will tempt more speed than you want entering a tighter section. Ride it deliberately the first time.
From Atlanta
3–3.5 Hours Each Terminus
Robbinsville, NC: US-76 west through Clayton and Murphy. ~3.5 hrs. Tellico Plains, TN: I-75 north to Sweetwater, TN-68 south. ~3 hrs. Robbinsville connects to Deals Gap — combine them into one overnight and ride both.
Best Window
Late April Through Early June
Spring wildflowers, clear road surfaces, cool high-elevation temps. September and October bring fall color. Avoid winter entirely — ice at 5,400 feet is a different problem than ice on I-285. The road can close at elevation. Check TDOT and NCDOT road conditions before departure.

✦ Road Atlanta — Weekend Recap
"50 Years Of Superbike Racing. Braselton Didn't Waste A Lap."
Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta turned 46 years of AMA Superbike history into a weekend that felt like the series was reminding everyone what it's built on. The 2026 season opener brought the full weight of the 50th anniversary celebration to Braselton — six classes of racing, a packed paddock, camping that sold out weeks ago, and a grandstand crowd that got exactly what they came for. This is what American road racing looks like when it's operating at full output.
Cameron Beaubier arrived at Road Atlanta on new machinery and a record-chasing mission. Six-time Superbike champion, the winningest rider in the modern MotoAmerica era, Beaubier switched from BMW to the Warhorse HSBK Ducati Flo4Law team for 2026 — putting him on a Panigale V4 R for the first time in his championship career. His target: a seventh title that would tie him with AMA Hall of Famer Mat Mladin for the most AMA/MotoAmerica Superbike championships of all time. Road Atlanta has always been Beaubier's circuit. He's won here more times than any active rider. The question entering the weekend was whether the new Ducati would be sorted fast enough to win from lap one, or whether the seat time deficit on unfamiliar machinery would show. The field pushing him — Bobby Fong on Yamaha, Mathew Scholtz on the Strack Racing Yamaha, and Benjamin Smith on the sister Ducati — arrived with their own agendas. For full race results, visit motoamerica.com.
Scott Russell as Grand Marshal was the right call for this track and this moment. The "Screaming Eagle" is a Braselton native who won an AMA Superbike championship, five DAYTONA 200s, and a World Superbike title. Road Atlanta hosted his home-track races for the length of his career. Having him on the grid for the 50th anniversary celebration at the circuit where he made his name was the kind of detail that turns an already good weekend into a permanent memory. Riders who were in the paddock Friday will be talking about it for years.
Mission King of the Baggers ran two races at Road Atlanta, and the Harley vs. Indian war resumed exactly as advertised. The series has alternated championships between the two brands since Kyle Wyman won the inaugural 2021 title on a Harley — Harley, Indian, Harley, Indian, Harley. The pattern is real. Road Atlanta is where the 2026 chapter of that rivalry began in earnest. Road Glides vs. Challengers at 150 mph through Turn 12 is one of the most purely American things happening in motorsports right now. For results and standings, visit motoamerica.com.
MotoAmerica debuted on VICE TV this weekend, with live Superbike coverage reaching over 40 million U.S. households on Saturday and Sunday. The partnership with V10 Entertainment brings the full nine-round, 20-race season to national cable and satellite. For a series built on speed, talent, and a grassroots connection to the riding community, a broadcast platform that reaches this scale is the kind of development that changes what MotoAmerica can become. Watch the full season live at motoamericaliveplus.com or on VICE TV.

The lap is operated by Team Hammer Race Team with proceeds supporting the Roadracing World Action Fund's racetrack safety barrier program.
CFMOTO ran a full demo program at Road Atlanta through the weekend with Northeast Georgia Motorsports (Hoschton, GA — minutes from the circuit on Hwy 124) as the participating dealer. ✦ Veteran Riders — Vet Corner
🎖 Vet Rider Corner — Issue No. 8
Road Atlanta put veteran riders front and center this weekend. MotoAmerica recognized U.S. military veterans throughout the event — free admission with valid Military ID is standard at MotoAmerica rounds, and the paddock was open to everyone. If you were in Braselton this weekend and connected with the veteran riding community there, Red Line wants to hear about it. The community is visible when it shows up. Show up.
Three events in the next 40 days that deserve every veteran rider's attention. Brave and Bold Veteran Motor Show in McDonough on May 23 — Red Line on site for full coverage. Riding 22 States in 22 Days hits Buford on May 29 — a veteran suicide awareness ride that logs 22 states representing the 22 veterans lost to suicide every day. And Rolling Thunder Ride for Freedom in Washington D.C. on Memorial Day weekend, May 24 — hundreds of thousands of riders, the National Mall, the most significant POW/MIA tribute ride in American history. These are not optional. Go.
A note on resources. The VA's Veterans Crisis Line is 988, then press 1. The Headstrong Project provides free mental health care to post-9/11 veterans and their families — no red tape, no cost. If you know a veteran who needs support and isn't getting it, these are the two fastest entry points. The riding community takes care of its own. Start there.
