Issue No. 10
May Is
Open.
Run Everything.
Issue 10. A milestone and a mandate. The spring calendar is maxed out — Barber this weekend, DGR two weeks out, the summer heat still weeks away. This issue covers the full May riding window: the event calendar from now through Memorial Day, the mountain roads that are in prime condition right now, what's new on dealer floors heading into the riding season's peak, and the intel you need before the crowds double and accommodations fill. This is the window. Don't waste it.

✦ Atlanta Bike Night Scene — May 2026
Eleven Nights. Zero Excuses.
The Atlanta bike night circuit just got bigger. This issue adds four new listings to the Red Line map — WOW Motorcycles in Marietta, Cycle Gear Lawrenceville, Pop's Coffee in Roswell, and Victory Sandwich Bar in Decatur. That brings the confirmed circuit to eleven active nights spread across every day Tuesday through Saturday. The metro has never had more options and the weather is right for all of them.
The four new adds cover every quadrant. WOW fills the northwest gap between Marietta Square and Killer Creek. Pop's Coffee locks in Roswell as a moto-community anchor. Cycle Gear Lawrenceville covers the east metro on a monthly cadence. And Victory in Decatur gives intown riders a home — the original Tuesday night spot on Church Street with the patio, the ping pong, and the right crowd. All four confirmed and active through the riding season.
Rules are the same circuit-wide: show up on time, park straight, don't rev in the lot, respect the venue. These nights run because the crowds behave. Keep it that way.

Tuesday Bike Night — Victory Sandwich Bar
Victory Sandwich Bar · 340 Church St, Decatur, GA · Patio + Street Parking
The original intown Atlanta bike night. Victory on Church Street in Decatur draws Triumphs, Ducatis, airheads, nineTs, and every other make that self-selects into the Decatur corridor. The patio is the spot — outdoor seating, bourbon and Coke slushies, ping pong in the back. Strong BMW and modern classic presence. Confirmed running every Tuesday through the season.

Wednesday Lot Night — Camp Creek Marketplace
Camp Creek Marketplace · 3677 Marketplace Blvd, East Point, GA
West Atlanta's most active midweek gather. Camp Creek runs later than most and draws a heavy mixed crowd — ADV, sport, cruiser in roughly equal proportion. Cartersville H-D Thursday Bike Night
Cartersville Harley-Davidson · 24 Red Top Mountain Rd SE, Cartersville, GA
Far north metro anchor and mountains gateway. Cartersville H-D sits at the literal entry point to north Georgia riding — the post-meet run up Red Top Mountain Rd is among the best 20-minute rides from any bike night on the circuit. Second Thursday of the month draws a solid crowd. Worth the drive from the city if you plan to stay north and ride back late.

✦ Road Conditions — The May Window
The Mountain Roads Are Prime. Right Now.
May is the best month to run north Georgia. The foliage is full, the road surfaces dried out from spring rain, traffic hasn't hit summer levels, and the temperature at elevation is still ideal — 15 to 20 degrees cooler than Atlanta proper on a clear afternoon. The window is open now and closes when the summer heat and family vacation traffic converge around mid-June.
GA-348 (Richard Russell Scenic Highway) from Blairsville to Helen is running clean. No active construction. The elevation changes on this route give you canyon curves, ridge-top vistas, and the fastest series of S-curves in the state without touching a closed course. Combine with Unicoi Gap (GA-75) for the full north Georgia loop.
Cherohala Skyway is open and in good condition. 43 miles from Tellico Plains, TN to Robbinsville, NC — zero services on route, so fuel before you enter. The skyway sits at 5,400 feet at its peak and the late-afternoon light through the ridge gaps is worth the drive out alone.
US-129 / The Dragon is beginning its summer surge. Dealersville Road is posting traffic — plan rides before 9 AM or after 6 PM on weekdays if you want clean laps. Weekend crowds are now consistent through October.

Nightster Special

New Blood Orange option for 2026 — flat-track race graphics, chrome exhaust shields, 14-spoke cast wheels. The 975 Revolution Max is the platform H-D should have built a decade ago. Pan America 1250 ST

Suzuki
2026 · GSX-8TT + SV650 — Best Value Pair on the Market
Sport Retro
GSX-8TT
Starting at $11,149
New for 2026. The GSX-8TT takes the 776cc parallel-twin from the GSX-8S and wraps it in a GS1000S-inspired partial fairing — round LED headlight in a fork-mounted cowl that references the AMA Superbike heritage without being a costume. 270-degree firing order, Cross Balancer system, full electronics suite. One of the most interesting new street bikes of the year. WOW Motorcycles has inventory.
Engine 776cc
MSRP $11,149
Midweight
SV650 ABS
Starting at $8,149
The SV650 remains the cleanest recommendation in motorcycling — 645cc V-twin, trellis frame, narrow profile, and a price that makes every other option look complicated. The benchmark first serious bike and the benchmark second bike for anyone moving up from a 300. Easy Start System, Low RPM Assist, 2026 color refresh. If someone asks what to buy, the answer is still this.
✦ Recommended Gear — May Picks
What to Have on the Bike Before May Gets Hot
May is the transition month. Mornings are still cool enough to warrant a mid-layer. Afternoons in Atlanta are already brushing 85°F. The mountain runs hit 60°F at elevation. You need gear that works across a 25-degree swing in a single day. These are the picks Red Line is running right now.
Jacket
Alpinestars Andes V3 Drystar
Three-season touring jacket with removable waterproof liner and CE Level 2 back protector. The mesh panels handle Atlanta afternoon heat. The liner handles mountain mornings. Cycle Gear Lawrenceville has stock.
Boots
TCX Street Ace WP
Waterproof leather with ankle armor and a profile that doesn't read as motorcycle gear off the bike. Walks into Victory Sandwich Bar without broadcasting "I just rode here" to everyone at the bar. That matters.
Gloves
REV'IT! Mosca 2
Perforated leather short-cuff glove. Touchscreen compatible fingertips. CE Level 1 knuckle protection in a profile thin enough to not feel like boxing gloves. The correct answer for Atlanta May weather.
Helmet
Shoei RF-1400
The RF-1400 remains the benchmark full-face under $700. Exceptional ventilation for warm-weather riding — critical for May through September in Georgia. SNELL 2020 and DOT certified. Cycle Gear carries multiple colorways with same-day helmet fit service.
Maintenance Before Memorial Day Weekend
Chain/belt: Inspect tension and lube before any mountain run. Dry chain on GA-348 is a bad way to start May. Tires: Check date codes. Anything over five years old is out — the heat cycle damage is real and the consequences on mountain roads are worse. Brake fluid: If you haven't flushed in two years, do it before the DGR. WOW Motorcycles service department is booking May slots now.
